Catching Up On A Sunday~Sunday Salon

It's actually starting to feel a little bit like spring today with some sunshine! This week I was busy with work and am so excited that the school year is almost over and summer will soon be here....7 weeks left! For those who don't know, I work part time as an Occupational Therapist in the schools. This past year was my first year working with preschoolers and I found that I love this age! Working in early intervention with kiddos and their families who need therapy and special education services makes such a difference in their lives. Several of the kiddos don't need therapy as they enter kindergarten as they have had the services in preschool and have caught up developmentally. I am also fortunate to work part time which makes a big difference as I can be there for my own son who is soon to start high school this fall! I can't believe how fast the time goes....I heard that when he was a baby but it rings true at this stage as my son is now taller than his dad and close to 6 feet tall!! I'm going to sneak in a picture, he's not too fond of me posting his picture on my blog. This picture was taken in January when we took him to see a specialist in another city for a health condition he has. They've closed most of the Big Boy restaurants by us so we had to stop and have lunch. It wasn't as good as we remembered but it was nostalgic and lightened the day!

Last Week:

I finished listening to The Good House by Ann Leary on audio book and loved it! It was a wonderful story, perfectly narrated by Mary Beth Hurt. It will be on my favorites list of 2013.

I watched the premiere of the 6th season of Mad Men, one of my favorite shows. I've got mixed feelings about the premiere but this show has a way of going places you don't expect and I can't wait for more! The fashion, hairstyles of the late 60's are quite interesting! If you are watching, what do you think of the start of season 6?

  1. We have so much in common, Bonnie! I remember the Big Boy restaurants from when I lived in Ohio. That brought back memories! I recently finished listening to The Good House as well and LOVED it for all the reasons you stated. I have the premier of Mad Men on my DVR but haven't watched it yet. I plan to do so today. That show is so smart. It doesn't just show you what's going on, it actually leads you to an idea and then its up to you to put the pieces together. That is a smartly written show and I LOVE it!!

  3. Bob's was big when I was in high school. After every football game, we'd head over for hot fudge cake and fries with blue cheese dressing! About ten years ago they closed most of them here, and only left the one historic landmark but now they are opening up again but with a NEW menu. One that is not nearly as good as the classic menu. The burger relish is different, etc. It's not that great anymore. Sadly.

  5. We don't have those Big Boy restaurants here at all. You're lucky that spring is showing up there. It sure isn't here yet. We had more snow and its just cold. It refuses to warm up. That's a great pic of A!

  6. Wouldn't it be nice if you really could understand how fast time flies when the kids are young enough for you still cherish the time? My advice to new parents is always to worry less about what your house looks like and more about cherishing the time you have. Although, I must admit, I do absolutely love my kids as adults and don't miss diapers, having to cut up everyone's food, sick kids not making it to the bathroom...
