Rating scale will be as follows:

5 of Hearts- You must read this book NOW!!
4 of Hearts- A great read, put it on your TBR list.
3 of Hearts- Happy that I read it...a good read.

I am a fan of Anita Shreve's writing and the story of a paramedic that saves a young woman's life and then their love affair, a child and the aftermath was intriguing. At first, I wasn't sure that I was going to like the novel as the story appeared simplistic and the narrator's voice didn't grab me. That changed quickly as the story progressed and the narrator's voice of Webster was perfectly fitting. I couldn't wait to listen to this book and I felt connected to the story and the characters. Anita Shreve has a way of getting to the heart of characters and their stories and this book does just that. I was fascinated with the stories of Webster's challenges as a paramedic and the connection between each character.

  4. I enjoyed your review, Bonnie! I've always liked Anita Shreve's books (most especially The Pilot's Wife), and this one is on my list too. I just need to find the time to read it. My book tour is really putting a damper on my reading time! Lol
