~Beading Class~
I took a beading class with a friend of mine last month. It has been something that I have always wanted to try and this was a beginner's class and I made the necklace in the top picture and the bracelet below. I now know some basics to beading and learned some techniques and tips. The instructor was helpful and the ladies that sat at the table with us were more experienced and they willingly shared some tips on websites to find tutorials and how to's as well as places to purchase beads and tools at reasonable prices. I already have some requests to make some things and these would also make great gifts. Someone suggested making beaded bookmarks which would be a fun thing to make. Does anyone bead or have any suggestions for a newbie beader? I'd love to hear any advice or tips!
My blog has been quiet again this summer. I am trying to find a balance and a way back to blogging. I will continue to focus on finding my "voice" or my "style" here on my blog. I've had a bit of writer's block and other issues which have kept things quiet here. My goal is to find my way back to regular blogging about books and life. Bear with me as I find the balance and I hope to stop and visit your blogs as well.
I always wanted to do a beading class, but I know that I would never keep it up. Great to have something you made yourself though.
ReplyDeleteIt was gratifying to have something pretty that I made myself. It's fun to even take one class even though you may not keep it up.
DeleteI've always wanted to learn to bead too! So glad that you went out there and did it! My friend Janel is a master beader. She's wrote books about beading.

She's a great writer and that's where her focus is right now but I think somewhere on her blog might still be a link for her jewelry!!
I remember that Janel used to post more about her beading. She's very talented...I will have to take a look at her blog to see if she still posts about her jewelry. Thanks Staci!
DeleteLooks like a successful class. Your pictures are pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment and for commenting!
DeleteThat beading class sounds like fun! I would love to make necklaces or bracelets like that. I hope everything is going well for you and that you find a good balance with the blog that makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alyce! I am working on finding that balance:)
DeleteI've taken a class or two in beading, I thought I'd let you see my friends blog, she often does some unusual pieces. and as well as a few connections. http://carmicimicata.blogspot.ca/
ReplyDeleteThanks Irene! I will check out your friends blog. I would like to find more ideas...I imagine there are beading blogs too.
DeleteBlogging is harder than one first thinks! Good luck with finding your mojo - I'm sure you will when you least expect it :-)
ReplyDeleteBlogging wasn't as hard at first, I've been blogging for a few years now. Thanks for the good wishes!
DeleteGlad to see you back! It sounds like you enjoyed your class! Good luck with your beading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy!
DeleteThe necklace and bracelet are beautiful, Bonnie. I love the blues.
ReplyDeleteNice to have your post come through my reader. Take your time with the blog. It's a hobby - not your job, right? ;-)
Thanks Mary! I appreciate you visiting...my blog has been quiet this year. You are right, it's a hobby and not a job I am paid for so I need to find a way to enjoy it more:)
DeleteIt's good to take a break once in a while. This should be something you enjoy not feel obligated to do. I love your beads - so pretty! Glad to see you back although I'll see you no doubt in BP.
ReplyDeleteI did a couple of beading workshops years ago, and loved them - I made a lamp-shade in one from beads, wire and tissue paper. I've been away from a week, so I'm catching up. My Saturday Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/a62PX
ReplyDeleteHooray for checking something off on your bucket list! :) The jewelry is beautiful. My girlfriend is a jewelry maker and makes lanyards for teachers' IDs. Enjoy your new hobby!
