Saturday Snapshot

It's been quiet here for awhile and I hope to get back to blogging more regularly. I had a memorable birthday last month, my wonderful husband planned a special weekend getaway to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and an overnight stay at a historic inn and tour of Fallingwater. Fallingwater was a home designed by Frank Llloyd Wright in the 1930's. My son took this picture from the viewing spot across from the home...it's beautiful there and picturesque which this picture shows perfectly.

On a bookish note, I kept thinking about the book Loving Frank while I was there and the personality of Frank Lloyd Wright that was described by the tour guide seemed connected to the book.

  1. What a terrific birthday trip - how neat of your husband to plan it! I recently picked up T.C. Boyle's The Women which is about all of the women in Wright's life and I'm eager to see how that compares to Loving Frank as far as Wright himself is concerned.

  2. I've never heard about it before, but now I want to live in it. I had to check out your link and a few other places on the web.
    Thanks for sharing.
Glad you had a nice trip.

  3. I've read about Fallingwater, and the way it was designed to be part of the landscape. It looks lovely.

  5. I've seen photos of this home before...so interesting! I previously had the same backdrop as you and had problems with it last week...so many problems, in fact, that I had to change it. Did you experience any virus type problems associated with the backdrop from Shabbyblogs?

  6. Now that you mention it, that looks VERY Frank Lloyd Wright. How beautiful! FLW always makes me think of the Simon and Garfunkel song...

  8. I love that house...one of the professors from the English Department where I work visited there and brought back pictures like this. It would be nice to be able to visit myself one day.

  13. I'd love to visit Fallingwater. It looks like a fascinating and beautiful place to visit. There's a Lego model of it now from their architecture series that I'm hoping my kids will buy for me sometime! My snapshot:
