Frustrated with Blog Comments....Suggestions please???

I am having some serious battles and frustrations leaving comments on Blogger and Wordpress blogs. I feel bad as I want to leave comments but they often don't go through with signing up my Google account or Wordpress account unless you can figure out how to sign in and it goes through correctly. I've emailed bloggers and asked what to do and it sounds like everyone is frustrated with these changes. I'm okay here on my blog as I haven't changed commenting with Blogger and left it the old way. I want to update my blog but am concerned that the changes are going to make it less user friendly.I have been trying to comment and visit blogs but it's not easy to leave comments on all blogs.  Are there any easy solutions or is it just hit or miss? How is everyone managing this?

  1. This has been very frustrating because part of the appeal of a blog is to get interaction with your readers. If you figure things out, please let us know.

  2. I don't think I've had too much trouble yet, but I am frustrated by the fact that you can't subscribe to further comments on a post on a lot of Blogger blogs. I researched and found that Blogger, in their "wisdom", didn't include that subscribe option for the full page or pop-up comment page (like yours). So, I have to star the post in my reader and go back to see if the blog author has responded back. Now, a lot of people don't respond too often and I usually know who does and who doesn't, but it's a pain. If you have embedded comments, the subscribe option is still there.

One thing I do know is that I have unchecked the "keep signed in" box on Google. I have to sign in every single time I look at my reader and sign in at the top of the first blog I want to comment on. After that point, I remain signed in until I end the session. Again, a pain, but it's the only way I know to make things work. I heard that Wordpress is having some issues as well, but so far I've not had problems there.

  3. I've had a couple people say they were having problems commenting on my blog, which makes me sad, but I didn't change any of my comment settings. Seems like WP wants you to sign in if you have a WP account. I tend to sign into Google and WP before I start commenting on blogs, but so far, I've found it pretty easy to sign in if I haven't already when I'm leaving a comment. I hope they get the bugs fixed soon, because I don't want to miss out on interactions with my readers!

  4. The wordpress change has frustrated me a little. I was going to start a blog that I wanted separately on Wordpress but now that they have to be connected I don't think it will happen.

One thing. By having pop up comments like you do, no one can subscribe to further comment by email. This option works on the embedded comments only now, and you also have the added advantage of threaded comments when it is embedded.

  5. You already know what I've experienced!! :D
I stay signed in and even then stupid WP still gives me fits. I even went so far as to make a new email and new gravatar..that worked for a little while! Very frustrating. I don't know the answer to it! Sorry!

  6. I don't know what to tell you. I've been very frustrated with wordpress because of this very issue. I decided to change the email address associated with my wordpress account so that I could comment with the email address that I prefer to use. So now none of my wordpress accounts have that email address, but wordpress still refuses to let me comment with that address, even though there is no account associated with it, it claims that there is and that I need to log in.

I have accepted defeat and now just login via twitter and leave all of my comments that way. It's not ideal, but until wordpress gets their act together it's what works.

  7. Thanks for the support and suggestions! I had to change my google settings to sync my google accounts and that has allowed me to comment on other blogs. I've also changed my comments to embedded comments as Blogger is forcing a change/upgrade in April. I will have to figure this out and hope to upgrade the look of my blog as well.
