For the past few weeks, I've slipped into a bit of a phunk. Hmm....I wonder, is it the summertime blues and is there really such a thing? Yes, I'm busy with family visiting from out of town...Yes, I have my own personal stress. I love reading...reading is one of my passions and I have had trouble focusing on reading, blogging and writing reviews lately. I have 100's of wonderful books to read and several reviews to write up. My book club meets tomorrow night..I haven't finished the book. It may be a book that I don't finish as it's been a disapointment. Or...is it my mood? That happens to me sometimes and when I go back to the book, I enjoy it. We are going out to dinner and the weather is gorgeous so sitting outside on the patio discussing a book with friends will be nice.
I don't mean to ramble on here....I just wanted to share why I haven't been blogging or commenting as much as usual. I posted this picture of reading on the beach as that is what I am dreaming of! Hmm....maybe I just need to take a vacation at the beach!
My Friend Amy recently wrote a post about the Summer Lazies and I realized that I'm not the only one feeling a bit of a phunk.
So, is anyone else going through the Summertime Blues?
Don't stress over it. Your books will be there when you're ready and so will we!
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's what it is for me as well. I'm reading a book right now that I like but I just can't get myself to sit down and read the 70-100 pages a day I had been reading.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling about the same way! Not much blogging going on for me either. Oh well, it'll pass (for both of us), I'm sure. Enjoy what you are doing and don't worry about the books or the blog. They'll be there when you feel like returning to them!!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling a bit phunky myself. I am hoping it goes away. I've already been on vacation...maybe I need another one. Be rest assured that others are feeling the same way. At least we have our books to help us feel better!
ReplyDeleteI can very much relate to how you're feeling! Nothing is very exciting, nothing is pulling me. And I don't have a blog yet, I was going to start one last week but the days went by....so hopefully I'll start it this week!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! Try some ice cream! =o)

It happens. It's hard to concentrate on reading when there is too much going on.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you just need to meet an author and another local blogger :) Hopefully your book group will help.
{HUGS} I can empathize. My phunk is not being in the mood to get my butte in gear and workout! I have the DVDs, the equipment, the necessary health...just no oomph to git'r'dun! It's applying to my reading, too. I have a book that I was just reminded that I need to review. I am a mood reader and it's pushing my puh-syche to read this and quickly, but know what I read so I cam review it. I just want to get back to my regularly scheduled reading.....
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI'm with Kathy- Don't stress over it..please. Take a break and enjoy your family and the every day life. You'll know when you're ready to jump back into your pile of books!!
We'll be here when you do!! :)
All of us have periods of the blahs. Maybe your body is saying you need some TLC, so be kind to yourself, drop anything that isn't feeding your soul, reach out to those who can help you through it, and know this too shall pass. And if you read, pick up only books you really WANT to read. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteI am blaming mine on the nice weather. I guess you can't have your head in a book all the time. The books will be there when you get back from having some other fun. I'm trying to tell myself the same things.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're also suffering from this Bonnie! I hope we both pull out of it soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it has anything to do with the summertime blues, but I am struggling to read my book club book for this month. I have a week left, so I am hoping to snap out of it soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the blues, but I've been so busy I can't see straight. Yours is the only post I've read yet today and it's mid-afternoon. I had family here last weekend, the holiday events, concerts and more family arriving tonight.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's my way of saying I that I understand. I have bookclub on Friday and am so thankful we are discussing a book I have read before. :)
I hope that your summer offers you more opportunities to relax!
Bonnie, I hope things get better soon. I can relate to those summertime blues as well. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteI certainly know how you feel. I bought a bunch of books to read while recouperating from surgery in June. I'm just now getting to the point of wanting to read and somewhat playing catch up. Like you, I couldn't concentrate. I hope it gets better for you. Summertime Blues
ReplyDeleteHope those blues go away soon--summertime seems like the worst time to get the blues! I've been going through a bit of blogging blues lately, but I've been reading lots which is an improvement.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a wonderful day!
Umm yup! Me too Bonnie. I went on vacation for a week, no reading and no computer and it was kind of nice. I'm having trouble getting back into it....
ReplyDeleteHang in there. I feel the same.. not so much summer.. but something. I keep posting giveaways and I think that I will end up alone in blog world as I have had little content or reviews.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about it Bonnie...when I see that you have read a book that is on my list.. I always want to know what you thought of the book. :)
It's not uncommon, so don't feel alone. I hope it has turned around for you by now, but if not - just take time for yourself and get rejuvenated. When it's time to jump back in, you'll know. :)
